Number Pieces, by MLC 4.2.1

Number Pieces is a tool designed to enhance students' grasp of place value and refine their computation skills with multi-digit numbers. It allows students to represent, regroup, and perform arithmetic operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using number pieces.

FEATURES

• Add and manipulate pieces (ones, tens, and hundreds)
• Customize the initial set of pieces to a basic or advanced level
• Combine pieces in groups of ten or split them (e.g., 10 ones into 1 ten)
• Utilize the expanding edge piece as a measuring tool to display array dimensions
• Select from three different colors to differentiate groups or individual pieces
• Individually move, rotate, or duplicate pieces
• Annotate representations and demonstrate comprehension using drawing tools
• Incorporate equations, expressions, and descriptions with math text and writing tools
• Zoom in and out, as well as scroll to manage larger sets of pieces
• Conceal and unveil work using resizable covers to generate personalized problems and model strategies
• Share work by saving images or providing share codes to collaborators
